Club Intrawest-Tremblant, Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada ...

Club Intrawest TremblantT, Quebec was the first ski resort to open in Canada and the second in all of North America. A mecca for skiers and other vacationers since 1939, it is located in the picturesque scenery of the Laurentian Forest, an easy 90-minute drive from Montreal.

The village of Mont Tremblant?s international reputation dates back for many generations. In early days, and continuing for many years, thousands of travellers rode the train from Montreal to Mont Tremblant to ski on the hill in winter or to have their vacation during the summer time. This trip was so popular that it was nicknamed ?le P?tit Train du Nord?.

The railway is no longer in service, but it has been transformed into a ?linear Park? that can be used for biking and hiking in the summer, and cross country skiing or snowmobiling in the winter. One of the best tourist destinations in the Laurentians, the linear Park of ?Le p?tit Train du Nord? passes through dozens of villages all along its 125-mile (200 km) path. It would be worth your attention even if Mont Tremblant did not exist.

Mont Tremblant in the FallIn 1992 Tremblant was purchased by the Canadian resort development company Intrawest, which proceeded to virtually rebuild the old place from scratch. The old Mont Tremblant has been transformed into a four season destination resort, complete with Intrawest?s signature pedestrian village, golf, superb skiing and other winter sports, timeshare, and anything else you can imagine a resort to need. It was all done in traditional Quebec architectural style, including smoothly cobbled streets.

The heart and soul of Tremblant is without doubt its pedestrian village. The center of all activity, it is designed to be people friendly. You can stroll the narrow cobblestone streets, attend festivals and concerts in the open-air plazas, shop at first class boutiques and other retail shops, dine at the excellent restaurants, browse through galleries, dance the night away at the nightclubs, or just sit around on a bench and people-watch to your heart?s content. Cars are not allowed.

Said one fan, ?The air smells of pine, the local people are friendly and you will find the typical Quebecois joie de vivre and hospitality? hospitality that comes from the heart.?

And what is there to do in the unlikely event that you might get bored? You name it.
